Analisis Kinerja Web Server Apache Dan Litespeed Menggunakan Httperf Pada Virtual Private Server (VPS)

Abstract

Pada 2018 jumlah pengguna internet di Indonesia sudah mencapai 171,17 juta jiwa. Angka ini setara dengan 64,8% dari total penduduk Indonesia 264,16 juta jiwa, dengan persentase pertumbuhan pengguna 10.12 % pertahunnya [1]. Seiring dengan peningkatan pengguna internet, maka jumlah penggunaan layanan website juga semakin meningkat.  Hal ini berdampak pada meningkatnya jumlah permintaan halaman web, sehingga pemilihan web server menjadi sangat penting.

Apache masih menjadi web server yang paling banyak digunakan, pada bulan Januari 2016 terdapat 77,76% koresponden yang menggunakan Apache [3]. Sementara pada 2008 Litespeed menduduki posisi ke 16 untuk web server yang paling  popular, pasar Litespeed meningkat dari 0,39% menjadi 3,29%, naik dari posisi ke 16 menjadi posisi ke 4.

Oleh sebab itu disini penulis ingin melakukan Analisis Perbandingan Kinerja Web server Apache dan Litespeed menggunakan Httperf pada Virtual Private Server (VPS) dengan Sistem Operasi CentOS. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menguji kinerja dari masing-masing web server dengan cara memberikan beban yang sama kepada kedua web server dan membandingkan hasil yang diperoleh untuk mengetahui web server manakah diantara Apache dan Litespeed yang memiliki kinerja lebih baik. Pengujian yang dilakukan meliputi throughput, Connection, dan reply.

ABSTRACT

In 2018 the number of internet users in Indonesia has reached 171.17 million. This figure is equivalent to 64.8% of Indonesia's total population of 264.16 million people, with a growth percentage of users being 10.12% per year [1]. Along with the increase in internet users, the number of website service usage is also increasing. This has an impact on increasing the number of web page requests, so the choice of a web server is very important.

Apache is still the most widely used web server, in January 2016 there were 77.76% correspondents using Apache [3]. While in 2008 Litespeed was ranked 16th for the most popular web server, Litespeed's market increased from 0.39% to 3.29%, up from 16th place to 4th position.

Therefore, here the author wants to do a Comparative Analysis of the Performance of Apache and Litespeed Web servers using Httperf on a Virtual Private Server (VPS) with the CentOS Operating System. The research was conducted by testing the performance of each web server by giving the same load to both web servers and comparing the results obtained to find out which web server Apache and Litespeed have the better performance. The tests carried out include throughput, connection, and reply.
